"Dagestan Mothers" complain to public prosecutor of poor investigation of kidnappings

Svetlana Isaeva, chair of the Dagestan NGO named "Dagestan Mothers for Human Rights", has complained to the public prosecutor that inspectors refuse to check the data on whereabouts of kidnapped persons.

"Relatives of disappeared persons are presenting plenty of data to investigation bodies about possible whereabouts of kidnapped people, however, inspectors would not check the presented information," runs Ms Isaeva's statement.

Svetlana Isaeva has sent his application to Igor Tkachov, Public Prosecutor of Dagestan, today, and copies thereof to President of Dagestan Mukhu Aliev and Minister of Internal Affairs of Dagestan Adilgerei Magomedtagirov. The letter lists the names of kidnapped persons: Ramazan Umarov disappeared in 2007; Rashid Batyrov was kidnapped in 2007; Salikh Saidov was detained in 2005 in Moscow, his further destiny is unknown; Isa Isaev was kidnapped in 2007; and Zarema Patakhova disappeared in 2007.

Ms Isaeva told in her conversation with the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that there are sufficient evidences in every disappearance case, which is completely ignored by the investigatory bodies of Dagestan. At the same time, she has found it necessary to note that recently the Dagestan authorities are expressing certain openness and readiness for cooperation.
