Tent camps in Ingushetia will be liquidated before October 1, said Acting President of the Chechen republic Anatoly Popov at a press conference in Moscow.

"All people who are now living in these tent camps in Ingushetia will be provided with housing," he said. "At the beginning of the year about 20 000 refuges lived in the Ingush tent camps, at the present time only 9 500." According to Anatoly Popov, about ten percent of displaced persons still remaining in Ingushetia have expressed their wish not to return to Chechnya. "For these people we shall try to provide housing in Ingushetia," added the acting president of Chechnya.
