Talking at work results in fine imposed on Volzhsky resident for discrediting army

A court in the city of Volzhsky (Volgograd Region) has fined Eduard Safronov, a local resident, by 50,000 roubles, treating the slogan he voiced out at his factory workplace in support of Ukraine as discrediting the Russian Army.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 13, it became known Eduard Safronov's case, initiated after law enforcers had drawn up a protocol on discrediting the army, had been sent to the court.

Let us remind you that on March 4, 2022, Russia enforced administrative liability for discrediting the Russian Armed Forces, after which residents of Russia, including the Volgograd Region, began to be prosecuted under this article. Thus, on August 13, it became known that a court in Volgograd received 22 administrative protocols against Vitaly Gotra drawn up under this article.

As of October 19, Russian courts had received about 4800 cases under the administrative article on discrediting Russian militaries. Among the regions of the North-Caucasian and Southern Federal Districts (NCFD and SFD), the top ten regions in terms of the number of opened discrediting cases were the Krasnodar Territory, where 164 such cases had been initiated. Most cases under this article were initiated in Moscow – 632 ones.
