Azerbaijan reports discovery of minefield at Sarybaba height

A minefield was discovered at the Sarybaba height, which was returned under the control of Baku during the “Retribution” operation on August 3.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that the situation in the Karabakh conflict zone escalated on August 3. The authorities of Azerbaijan announced the conduct of the “Retribution” operation in Nagorno-Karabakh after the murder of an Azerbaijani soldier. On August 6, the Azerbaijani side announced the capture of a strategic height in the Karabakh conflict zone.

On August 15, work was carried out on a minefield discovered in the eastern part of the Lachin District, during which 991 anti-personnel mines of the PMN-E type were removed. The mines were disposed of in compliance with safety rules, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Azerbaijan reported.

The mines found in the field were produced in 2021 in Armenia, after the 44-day war in 2020, reported the Azerbaijani MoD in its message translated from the Azerbaijani language by the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.
