Dagestani resident sentenced to 12 years within terrorism case

A court in Rostov-on-Don has found Magomed Ramazanov, a resident of Dagestan, guilty of preparing explosions and attacks on law enforcers in Makhachkala and sentenced him to 12 years in prison.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 25, 2021, four alleged members of the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS), banned in Russia by the court, were detained in Dagestan; they are suspected of preparing an explosion and an attack on law enforcers. Weapons, an explosive device and ammunition were found on them.

According to investigators, on December 20, 2020, Magomed Ramazanov took the oath of allegiance to the head of the IS, and recorded a video message on his phone. Together with three members of the illegal armed formation (IAF) that he had created, he acquired firearms, ammunition, explosive devices and knives, which he kept in hideouts created in the village of Agachaul and in Makhachkala. They had also plotted a plan for committing explosions on December 31, 2020, in Makhachkala, the court's Telegram channel has informed.
