Appointment of Vice-Premier of Chechnya highlights principles of Kadyrov’s personnel policy
Abdul-Kerim Edilov, the head of the secretariat of the leader of Chechnya and former coach of Ramzan Kadyrov’s children, has been appointed the vice-premier of the republic. The appointment of Abdul-Kerim Edilov has continued the trend of the creation by Ramzan Kadyrov of a power vertical built on close relationships.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that boxer Abdul-Kerim Edilov, a mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter, was a wrestling coach of the Ramzan Kadyrov’s sons. On November 11, 2021, Ramzan Kadyrov announced that Chechen leader’s aide Abdul-Kerim Edilov had been appointed the head of his secretariat.
At a government meeting, Ramzan Kadyrov introduced Abdul-Kerim Edilov as the new vice-premier of the republic who would supervise youth policy and sports, the “Grozny-inform” news agency reported on February 15.
Today, a reader of the “Caucasian Knot” with the nickname ike has drawn attention to the Abdul-Kerim Edilov’s appointment. “It is no secret to anyone that the career of any person in Chechnya depends ‘on being close to the body.’ We are waiting for the growing sons of Ramzan Kadyrov to be appointed to high positions ‘exclusively’ because of their professional and business qualities. Ramzan Kadyrov has already made appointments of his two older daughters,” user ike wrote.
Let us remind you that in November 2021, Ruslan Kutaev, the president of the Assembly of Caucasian Nations, noted that the appointment of Abdul-Kerim Edilov as the head of the secretariat of the leader of the republic was a manifestation of a typical personnel policy of the leader of Chechnya. “Ramzan Kadyrov often shuffles a deck of relatives and associates and appoint them from post to post,” Ruslan Kutaev noted.
