Tbilisi: protesters demand not to raise electricity tariffs

On January 17, in Tbilisi, near the office of the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission (GNERC), an action was held by several dozen people, who protested against the increase in electricity tariffs.

They also demanded a meeting with GNERC bosses; some of the protesters tried to break into the office; and they clashed with policemen; as a result, two protesters were detained, the "Rustavi-2" TV Channel reported in the evening of January 17 on its website.

The Channel has also posted a video showing several dozen people crowded near the entrance to the building. Police are trying to convoy the detainees to the police vehicle, while the crowd, in its turn, is trying to fight their comrades back from law enforcers.
