Residents of Dagestan report difficulties associated with imposition of QR codes

In Dagestan, without a QR code or a coronavirus survival certificate, people are not allowed to visit shopping centres or go to the market, and visitors to cafes must also produce the above-mentioned documents, local residents say. The innovation affected the activities of small businesses, as the number of cafe visitors decreased significantly, entrepreneurs note.

The government of Dagestan has confirmed the need for people to present a QR code when visiting public places, but the decree of republic’s leader Sergey Melikov has not yet been released. Without The Dagestani leader’s decree, the decision of the headquarters has no legal force, lawyer Arsen Magomedov notes in a video on the “Arsen Magomedov” YouTube channel.

The residents of Dagestan, interviewed by the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent, said that the prescription on mandatory QR codes is being fulfilled in the republic, and in this regard, many people had problems.

“I was ill recently, and no one gave me a certificate of survival. I work for the technical service, and I can’t just go out to lunch at lunchtime: they don’t let me enter any cafe,” said 30-year-old Magomed.

“In our family, almost all survived the coronavirus, and some had it in severe form. So, I support the coronavirus restrictions. When you go out into the city, no one wears masks and do not comply with the restriction measures,” said in turn 40-year-old Ruslan.

Irina, an administrator of a cafe in Makhachkala, has a negative attitude to the restrictions imposed. “Our business has suffered a lot. Every day we are visited by inspectors who make sure that visitors have QR codes. We have too little clients, and the revenue has dropped significantly,” the cafe administrator said.
