Political analysts treat authorities' actions in Saakashvili's case as short-sighted

The action of supporters of Mikheil (Mikhail) Saakashvili, held in front of the Rustavi Prison, brought together more than 200 people. They demanded to release the third country's president and criticized Georgian authorities for the rejection of entry to the country of the Ukrainian journalist, Dmitry Gordon, who wanted to visit Saakashvili.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the evening on October 27, a crowded rally was held in Zugdidi by supporters of the "United National Movement" (UNM) Party. They demanded the release of Mikheil (Mikhail) Saakashvili, the third president of Georgia, and declared that he should become the country's last political prisoner.

Mikheil (Mikhail) Saakashvili is kept in Rustavi Prison, where he has been on a hunger strike since October 1 demanding his release.

At 1:00 a.m. local time, over 200 people gathered in front of the Rustavi Prison, where Mikhail Saakashvili is kept.

"The actions of the government and Garibashvili (the Premier) are outrageous. Saakashvili is in a grave health condition; no journalists are allowed to visit him," Manana Anguladze, an activist, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

On October 27, the well-known Ukrainian journalist, Dmitry Gordon, was not allowed into Georgia. In his Instagram page, Mr Gordon has stated that for an hour after the plane landed, he was kept in the airport building; all this time he was not released, and in the second hour of his waiting there, his passport was returned to him with an order to return to Kiev by the first flight without any explanations.

According to Gela Vasadze, a political analyst, the ban on Mr Gordon's entry is "sheer stupidity from the political viewpoint."

Gordon could not harm not only the national interests of Georgia, but even the Georgian Dream party - the majority of voters do not watch the programs of either Ukrainian or Russian journalists, he told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
