Analysts treat gasification problem in KChR as systemic

For a long time, residents of many dwelling settlements of the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR) have failed to draw authorities' attention to the absence of gas supplies to their houses, while the active reaction of Rashid Temrezov to the complaint of a female resident of Ust-Djeguta to the president has to do with the upcoming election of the head of the region, the analysts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" believe.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 30, Roza Kappusheva, a KChR resident, during a direct line with Russian President, Vladimir Putin, asked him to help with gasification of households. She explained that she was addressing him on behalf of residents of the northern part of the city of Ust-Djeguta. The President promised to solve this issue with the KChR head. On July 5, the regional authorities promised to accelerate the gasification pace of the Severny (Northern) micro-district of Ust-Djeguta.

The gasification problem in the KChR is of a systemic nature, Kady-Haji Khalkechev, the head of the Congress of the Karachai people, has noted. "Such a single action is not a solution to the problem. It is necessary to act systematically. After all, apart from Ust-Djeguta, there are mountain villages without gas supplies," he told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The gasification problem of Ust-Djeguta is quite old, said a source from the "Black Cube" Centre. "Even before the direct line [with Putin], townspeople had appealed to officials for help, but no one listened to them. Therefore, it is absolutely ridiculous to say that Rashid Temrezov did not know about it," the source has noted.

He expressed an opinion, similar to that of Mr Khalkechev, that Ust-Djeguta is not the only KChR settlement, which has communal problems.

An expert has associated Mr Temrezov's activeness in solving the gasification problems with the fact that the issue of re-appointment of republic's head for the next term has not been solved yet.
