Swedish MFA summons Russian ambassador to unpleasant talk about assassination attempt on Tumso

Ann Linde, the head Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has requested information from Russia about the involvement of Chechen authorities in the assassination attempt on the blogger, Tumso Abdurakhmanov, which was committed last February.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 11, a Swedish court found Russian citizens, Ruslan Mamaev and Elmira Shapiaeva, to be participants in the attack on the blogger from Chechnya, Tumso Abdurakhmanov, and sentenced them to ten and eight years of imprisonment, respectively. The court recognized the criticism of the Chechen authorities by the blogger as the crime motive, but the role of Chechen authorities was not studied in detail.

Swedish Minister Ann Linde called Russian Ambassador, Victor Tatarintsev, to discuss the assassination attempt on Tumso Abdurakhmanov, the Swedish newspaper "Aftonbladet" wrote on May 23.

The newspaper called the call to the ambassador to be "unusual and inconvenient." "Ms Linde asked Russia for information about the involvement of Chechen authorities in the assassination attempt committed in Gavle on February 26, 2020.

The newspaper cites the decision of the Court of Appeal, which indicated that many facts had confirmed the attackers' links with the Chechen leadership.
