Case on beating of a journalist in North Ossetia transferred to court

Investigators have sent to court a case on an attack on journalist Ruslan Totrov in North Ossetia, who was beaten for posting critical articles.

On February 5, it was reported about the launch of an investigation into the attack on the journalist of the "OsNova" edition. On January 21, Ruslan Totrov was beaten at his workplace. According to the journalist, the attackers said they were angered by his critical posts about the President of South Ossetia.

The journalist claimed that one of the attackers was an employee of the South-Ossetian Ministry of Defence (MoD), “a man from among the President Bibilov’s associates,” while the other attacker was a resident of Vladikavkaz.

Ruslan Totrov noted he had assumed that a political factor might be involved in the case. “However, the Investigating Committee showed complete independence in my case,” the journalist said.
