Advocate: Artsuev’s relatives refuse help for fear of deportation

Relatives of Lezi Artsuev, a native of Chechnya, deported from France to Russia, refused the help of an advocate after it turned out that Lezi Artsuev had been taken to Gudermes, his former defender reported. The advocate associates the decision of the Lezi Artsuev’s relatives with their fear of being deported as well.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that Lezi Artsuev, a native of Chechnya, born in 1977, disappeared after his deportation from France to Russia. Later, sources informed that Lezi Artsuev had been brought to Gudermes after his deportation.

The relatives of Lezi Artsuev refused to defend his rights out of fear of being deported after him, reported advocate Abubakar Yangulbaev, who defended Lezi Artsuev earlier. “It is a common fear. His relatives feared to lose their foreign status (refugee status, – note of the ‘Caucasian Knot’). They thought that if they began to fight for their man, they would be deported from the European Union,” the advocate told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.
