South-Ossetian Ministry of Construction: boycott of parliament can disrupt works

The reconstruction of the Tskhinvali water intake, as well as the construction of a school and eight more facilities will be stopped if MPs do not approve the budget of South Ossetia in the next month, the Minister of Construction announces. The opposition disrupted one more session of the parliament, because the agenda did not include the issue of the General Prosecutor's resignation, MP David Sanakoev explains.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that starting from the autumn 2020, half of the South-Ossetian MPs have boycotted session and blocked its parliament's activities.

As a result of the parliament's inaction, the legitimacy of the government has not been confirmed, the budget of South Ossetia for 2021 has not been adopted, salaries in public institutions have been delayed, and pensioners do not receive their pensions.

President Anatoly Bibilov again accused the MPs of delaying the payment of salaries, pensions, and child benefits.

Opposition MPs did not come to the today's parliament session for the same reason as earlier: the agenda did not contain a presentation for the resignation of the General Prosecutor, MP David Sanakoev explains. The MP insists that the boycott of the parliament sessions does not interfere with the payment of pensions to pensioners and salaries of public sector employees.

Journalist Ruslan Totrov notes that the MPs participating in the boycott are not idle and continue their legislative activities.
