Instagram users discuss role of Dagestani woman in her daughter's marriage to militant

A 14-year-old girl from Derbent, who had been kept for more than three months by the law enforcement bodies in Grozny, returned to her homeland, Instagram users report. Social network users argued about the behaviour of her mother, whom Magomed Daudov declared guilty of her daughter's early marriage to a "terrorist."

On January 21, in her appeal to Ramzan Kadyrov, a woman from Derbent complained that her daughter had been kept at a law enforcement unit for more than three months, since the day of a special operation in Grozny. According to Shamil Khadulaev, a member of the Public Chamber of Dagestan, earlier, the girl had been married off, and her husband was killed in the special operation in Grozny on October 13, 2020.

In their comments, many social network users criticized the woman. "The authorities are to deprive her of maternal rights. She gave her daughter to an unknown man. Now she should not cry," wrote, in particular, user kotadik. However, some Instagram users warned participants of the discussion against hasty conclusions.

Many social network users have demonstrated their solidarity with the journalists' version that it is not the Chechen law enforcers who are to blame for the situation with the girl's detention, but her mother, who gave her consent to the daughter's early marriage.
