On January 18-24, 11 persons fell victim to armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

During the week from January 18 to January 24, 2021, during the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus, eleven persons suffered in the conflict: six of them perished and five were wounded. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other sources.

All the six casualties were alleged members of the armed underground in Chechnya.

Special and counterterrorist operations

On January 20, a special operation was conducted near the village of Katar-Yurt, Achkhoi-Martan District of Chechnya, as a result of which six militants from Aslan Byutukaev's grouping, who had been on the wanted list, were killed. The Russian National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) has reported that five militants were killed. According to the source, law enforcers caught Byutukaev's trail after the murder of Kazbek Baidulaev. He was wearing a suicide belt. During their next raid, law enforcers found footprints and the entrance to the dugout. When they tried to block this place, grenades flew at them. People in the dugout tried to break out of the encirclement by covering each other with fire from submachine guns. Five of them were killed by return fire; the sixth one committed a self-detonation. During the shootout, five law enforcers were slightly wounded.
