Police arrest men suspected of plotting a terror act in Makhachkala

The court pronounced a decision to arrest for two months four suspects detained in a case on plotting of an explosion and an attack on law enforcers in Dagestan.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that during a search at places of the detained suspected members of a unit of the "Islamic State" (IS, a terrorist organization, banned in Russia by the court, – note of the "Caucasian Knot"), law enforcers discovered weapons, an improvised explosive device (IED), and ammunition. Moreover, mobile phones of the suspects contained correspondence with their foreign coordinators.

According to the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC), the detainees planned to detonate an IED near an administrative building of the law enforcement bodies and attack law enforcers. The detainees had no clear plan, a source reported. "They intended to attack policemen with knives or firearms on the eve of the New Year and then commit suicide," the source said.
