Source presents data on detainees in Dagestan

On December 25, law enforcers detained four members of a unit of the "Islamic State", a terrorist organization banned in Russia by the court, who had planned to detonate a bomb in Makhachkala, the Russian FSB (Federal Security Bureau) has reported. According to the FSB, weapons, an explosive device and ammunition were found on the detainees; and their phones contained correspondence with foreign coordinators.

"The age of the detainees is from 25 to 28 years; they had no specific plan, just wanted, on the eve of the New Year, to attack policemen with knives or firearms and then commit suicide," the RIA "Novosti" has quoted its law enforcement source in Dagestan.

According to the source, the detainees had never been seen in any illegal actions. There is no official confirmation of the information about the detainees, the RIA "Novosti" writes.

According to the FSB, the detained members of the IS unit had planned to detonate an explosive device near one of the law enforcers' administrative buildings and commit an armed attack on employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Dagestan. "Firearms and edged weapons, a large amount of ammunition and an explosive device were found in a hideout equipped by terrorists and in their secret residence; their mobile phones contained correspondence with coordinators of terrorist activities abroad," the Russian NAC (National Antiterrorist Committee) has reported.
