Armenian MoD reports downed Azerbaijani drones

Four Azerbaijani drones have been shot down in the sky over the Gegarkunik Region of Armenia, the Armenian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has reported. In its turn, the Azerbaijani MoD has denied this information, noting that it does not launch drones into the Armenian air space.

During the exacerbation of the Karabakh conflict, which began on September 27, the parties thereto have repeatedly reported shot down and intercepted drones. For example, on October 23, the Azerbaijani MoD reported two shot down and two intercepted unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs or drones); and on November 1, Nagorno-Karabakh reported three shot down drones in the sky over Stepanakert.

The military analysts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" have noted that drones play a key role in the aggravation of the conflict. "A drone means reconnaissance, obtaining information, plus striking ground targets," said Alexander Perendjiev. Political and economic losses from a manned military facility "are much greater than from a drone," says Alexander Golts. "Azerbaijan is building all its operative activities on drones," Pavel Felgengauer has noted.
