Three oppositionists detained at protest action in Tbilisi

The police have detained Bezhan Gunava, the leader of the "Georgian Choice" Party, and two of his associates, who on October 26 went out to a protest action against the use of undeclared money at the elections to the Georgian Parliament.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 31, the Georgian President, Salome Zurabishvili, signed a decree to appoint the country's parliamentary elections and the elections to the Supreme Council of the Adjarian Autonomy for October 31, 2020.

On October 26, activists held an action entitled "Black Money"; in their opinion, undeclared funds were used in the election campaign in order to avoid paying taxes into the state budget. The protester voiced accusations against the State Audit Service of negligence and ignoring such cases, the "Sputnik-Georgia" has reported.

The protesters were detained after Gunava and Shavreshiani began throwing eggs into the building, and Purtseliani, despite the police's counteraction, entered the court of the State Audit Service. Gunava also demanded a meeting with Irakli Mekvabishvili, the head of the State Audit Service, and tried several times to enter the building, but he was stopped by the police, the "News-Georgia" has reported.
