In Azerbaijan, authorities convince villagers of Terter District not to attend funeral

In the village of Djamilli in the Terter District of Azerbaijan, almost all the villagers were going to attend the funeral of their two fellow villagers, but the ceremony was held with a minimum number of participants due to the threat of a shelling attack, reported Namig Takhmazov, the head of the municipal council of the village of Djamilli. In the morning, the city of Terter and villages near the frontline were shelled, local residents reported.

On October 20, during an artillery shelling attack, one of the shells hit a residential building in the village of Djamilli. As a result, two men were killed.

On October 18, a truce entered into force in Nagorno-Karabakh, but on the other morning, the parties to the conflict again accused each other of shelling attacks.

"We convinced the villagers not to attend the funeral ceremony, because a visible crowd of people could provoke a new shelling attack. The funeral was held with a minimum number of people," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by Namig Takhmazov, the head of the municipal council of the village of Djamilli.

According to Namig Takhmazov, only close relatives and neighbours attended the funeral. No women came to the ceremony, since, according to Muslim customs, women do not attend funeral ceremonies.

Mekhtikhan Seyidov, a resident of the Ayag Garvand village in the Agdam District, has noted that, despite the shelling attacks, villagers continue agricultural works.
