Makhachkala activists demand compensation after law enforcers' claims

Activists Arsen Magomedov, Ziyautdin Uvaisov and Murad Muradov, who were brought to the police station after checking the reconstruction work quality in a square in Makhachkala, filed an application with the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), demanding compensation for their suffered moral harm.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 4, activists of the "Our City" movement came to the central square to assess its reconstruction results. Five activists and the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent were taken to the police station.

Activists Arsen Magomedov, Ziyautdin Uvaisov and Murad Muradov have turned to the Russian MIA demanding compensation for their moral harm suffered from the delivery to the police station. Activists believe that the MIA should pay 439,000 roubles to each of them, the "Chernovik" (Draft) weekly has reported today.

The activists have explained that the compensation amount was calculated based on the practice of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) on complaints received from Russian citizens.
