Gadjiev's colleagues resume pickets in his support

Supporters and colleagues of the arrested Dagestani journalist, Abdulmumin Gadjiev, have resumed their weekly solo pickets demanding his release.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that since June 14, 2019, Gadjiev is under arrest within the case of financing terrorism. His colleagues remind that he is in custody for the second year, although his guilt has not been proved.

Abdulmumin Gadjiev pleads not guilty. Public prosecutors suggest that the defendant transferred money to accounts of the foundations led by preacher Israil Akhmednabiev (Abu Umar Sasitlinsky). The investigators consider the preacher as an organizer of terrorist financing through charitable foundations under the pretext of building mosques and helping the poor.

A series of solo pickets in Gadjiev's support was held on August 31 in the central square of Makhachkala, Magomed Magomedov, the deputy editor-in-chief of the "Chernovik" (Draft) weekly, told the "Caucasian Knot".

Ten people were present at the venue of the pickets; and four persons took part in the picketing, Magomedov said, adding that the activists intend to hold pickets every week.
