Drivers criticize checks at entrance from Dagestan to Chechnya

Law enforcers are examining all the drivers and inspecting all the cars at the entrance to Chechnya from Dagestan, which results in huge jams on the federal highway in the forty-degree-centigrade heat.

After the restrictions were introduced due to the epidemic, all long-distance travels from Chechnya were prohibited; and after the resumption thereof, driver and passengers have to wait in jams at the entrance to the republic, a driver working on the Makhachkala-Grozny route has complained.

"We have been working for the fourth day; and all these days there are traffic jams here. We have to wait for an hour, sometimes less," the driver told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. According to his story, at the checkpoint, he was asked several times to show a certificate stating that he has no coronavirus infection.

A resident of Kabardino-Balkaria, who was returning home from Dagestan, said that he had not expected such a traffic jam at the entrance to Chechnya. "We went to the sea. When we left, everything was fine. Now every car is carefully and tediously inspected. It takes 15 minutes for each car," he told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Chechen residents themselves are forced to wait in traffic jams. Thus, one of them said that he left Grozny for Khasavyurt for an hour only, but he spent more time in the traffic than in Khasavyurt.
