Chechen native Liliya Saidova sentenced in case on financing of terrorism

Today, the court has sentenced Liliya Saidova to five years of imprisonment for transferring money to his brother in Turkey. Liliya Saidova pleads not guilty of financing terrorism, and the court's decision will be challenged, the defence has announced.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Liliya Saidova was arrested on a charge of financing terrorism. Agents of the secret services force Liliya Saidova to confess to a crime and defame a man from Dagestan, whom she does not know, claim a father and an advocate of the Chechen woman. At the court hearing held on March 3, Liliya Saidova confirmed that she had transferred money to her younger brother in Turkey, but refused to plead guilty to the financing of terrorism.

Today, in Moscow, the Second Western District Military Court has found Liliya Saidova guilty of financing terrorism and sentenced her to five years of imprisonment, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been informed by Suleiman Ibragimov, an advocate of the sentenced Chechen woman.

The advocate has noted that the main prosecution witness refused to testify. "Despite the refusal of the witness to testify, the court found the guilt of my client proved and sentenced her to five years of imprisonment," Suleiman Ibragimov said.

The advocate has announced that the verdict will be challenged as soon as the defence receives the full text of the court's decision.
