Blogger Abdurakhmanov explains Kadyrov's refusal to punish law enforcers

Ramzan Kadyrov decided to reward the law enforcers who humiliated a resident of Argun, because punishing "own people" contradicts the principles of the power system in Chechnya, blogger Tumso Abdurakhmanov claims. The law enforcers did not have the right to humiliate the man, and by such actions they embitter local residents against themselves, YouTube users note.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that users of social networks criticized law enforcers after a video was posted on the Internet in which the law enforcers were kicking a man who violated the quarantine regime. The leader of Chechnya announced his willingness to "beat people with batons and imprison them" in order to protect the nation from the coronavirus infection. Meanwhile, the Argun police condemned the actions of the law enforcers and promised to punish them. On the air of the "Grozny" TV Channel, the very beaten man repented of violating the quarantine.

Ramzan Kadyrov could have benefited from properly reacting to indignation of the people who watched the video in which the law enforcers were kicking the resident of Argun, but he decided not to punish the law enforcers, notes blogger Tumso Abdurakhmanov.

He has also recalled that Islam Kadyrov, a nephew of the Chechen leader, the former Mayor of Grozny, went unpunished for torturing people with electric stunning device.

Even if the resident of Argun violated the quarantine regime, the law enforcers did not have the right to humiliate him, the blogger emphasizes.

According to Abubakar Yangulbaev, a lawyer from the "Committee against Torture", law enforcers subjected the resident of Argun to humiliating beatings for absence of a medical mask on his face. However, earlier, Elkhan Suleimanov, the Chechen Minister for Public Health, announced that persons without symptoms of viral respiratory infections are not required to wear masks. The Minister's statement contradicts the law enforcers' requirements, local residents note.
