Ramzan Kadyrov denies US Congressmen's assumptions of his financial interests abroad

Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov has announced that he has no business in Russia or abroad and explained the ties with the Middle East by the business and economic interests of the republic.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that after Ramzan Kadyrov's frequent trips to the Middle East, Caucasus experts called him "minister of foreign affairs for relations with the Islamic world."

US Congressmen Tom Malinowski and Joe Wilson demanded to check the business activities of the leader of Chechnya in the countries of the Middle East, Voice of America (VOA) reports. In their letter to US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, the US Congressmen state that "Ramzan Kadyrov made a profit of 1 million USD in equestrian competitions in the United Arab Emirates (UAE)."

"I have never had any business in Russia and abroad, and I do not have any accounts with foreign banks," Ramzan Kadyrov wrote in his Telegram channel. The leader of Chechnya has also emphasized that he "absolutely does not care what US congressmen write and that the US Department of State answers them."

The leader of Chechnya has noted that the Sheikh Khalifa Foundation from the UAE finances projects in the republic. In particular, with its support, an international university is under construction in Grozny. Earnings from equestrian competitions went to the maintenance of horses and personnel, Ramzan Kadyrov explained.
