Machalikashvili urges to abandon entertainments at parliament building

The father of Temirlan Machalikashvili, who was killed during a special operation in Pankisi, said that he would again set up a tent near the Georgian parliament, where the Mayoralty has already installed attractions.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the evening on December 30, in Rustaveli Avenue, in front of the parliament, authorities removed the tents of the protesters, who are seeking a change in the electoral system, including the tent of Malkhaz Machalikashvili.

Malkhaz Machalikashvili is the father of the 19-year-old Temirlan Machalikashvili, who was shot dead during a special operation on December 26, 2017. His relatives claim that he was shot dead while in bed. For more than a year, Temirlan's relatives and fellow villagers keep holding protests demanding to punish those responsible for his murder. On June 15, Malkhaz Machalikashvili received the opposition's support in collecting signatures for the creation of a parliamentary commission for investigating the circumstances of the special operation, during which his son was killed.

His tent was dismantled without warning, despite the fact that the Mayoralty staff had contacted Malkhaz, told him about their plans to clean the place and install children's attractions there, but assured him that his tent would not be touched, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, who watched the programme of the Georgian "Mtavari Arkhi" TV Channel, reports. According to Machalikashvili, he intends to reinstall his tent in the city centre.

"The tent (in front of the Georgian parliament) will stand until they confess to killing a sleeping person (his son, Temirlan Machalikashvili). The banner will remain there, until an interim investigating commission is set up," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has translated Malkhaz Machalikashvili's words pronounced on air of the TV Channel.

The father urged townspeople to refrain from entertaining on the rides and attractions installed near the parliament, adding that "everything has its borders."
