Natives of Chechnya convicted despite appeal to Kadyrov

A court in the Volgograd Region found natives of Chechnya guilty of extortion, despite the appeal of a brother of the alleged organizer of the criminal grouping to Ramzan Kadyrov urging to somehow defend them.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Turpal-Ali Djabrailov, a native of Chechnya, said in his video appeal to Kadyrov that his brother and several other Natives of Chechnya had been under investigation for almost four years on unfair charges.

The court found all the ten defendants guilty of plunder, robbery, extortion and theft of an important personal document, and sentenced them to imprisonment for terms from of three to 14 years.

"By threatening to beat up their relatives, the defendants extorted money from military servicemen under far-fetched pretexts," the press service of the Volgograd Regional Courts has reported.
