Chechens detained in Strasbourg released

Policemen have searched the natives from Chechnya detained and checked their mobile phones; found nothing illegal, and released them, a police source has reported.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 27, Strasbourg policemen detained two migrants from Chechnya, after treating their gestures in front of the cathedral during the Christmas fair, when they made selfies, as justification of terrorism. Chechens made photos with their index fingers raised.

A year ago, a man opened fire on visitors of the Christmas fair in Strasbourg. A video was found in his apartment where he announced sympathy for terrorists. The news of their detention triggered disputes among French Internet users.

According to Le Figaro, one of the detainees lives in Strasbourg, and the other – in another French city; he came to visit the first one.
