Participant of Chechen wedding motorcade apologizes publicly for dangerous driving

On air of the Chechen TV, a resident of the Naur District has repented of violating traffic rules while trying to oust another car of the wedding motorcade off the road. Local residents treat his public repentance as excessive.

In the evening on November 16, the "Grozny" ChGTRK (Chechen State TV and Radio Company) in its news programme, showed a story about two residents of the Naur District of Chechnya, detained after a video had been posted in social networks showing dangerous manoeuvres of two drivers of a wedding motorcade.

One of the detainees, whose name was not mentioned, repented of his behaviour to the camera. The second young man did not comment on his behaviour in the shown story. An inspector of the Naur District GIBDD (road police) Division has assured in the TV story that the young people would be held administratively liable for violating the traffic rules.

Some residents of the republic found it excessive to publicly demonstrate the repentance of a participant of the wedding motorcade. "One thing is to fairly punish him according to the law; but another thing is to film a person and then show him to the whole republic. Why should they shame the culprit, his family and relatives? This is wrong," Aslan, a resident of Grozny, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
