Court extends arrest of Ingush activist Ismail Nalgiev

The court pronounced a decision to leave Ismail Nalgiev, the coordinator of the organization "Choice of Ingushetia", under arrest in Nalchik until September 25. An investigator did not justify the request to extend the activist's arrest, claimed advocate Andrei Sabinin.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 8, Ismail Nalgiev was detained at the airport in Minsk, from where he planned to fly to the Czech Republic. The activist was charged with an administrative offense, but no trial took place in Minsk, since it was decided to extradite Ismail Nalgiev to Russia. According to the advocate, his client pleads not guilty and refuses to testify.

Ismail Nalgiev and a number of other activists were accused of attacking law enforcers in the course of a rally in Magas on March 27. On that day, law enforcers attempted to disperse protesters, since the protest action was sanctioned only for March 26.

Like four other leaders of the protests, Ismail Nalgiev was recognized as a political prisoner by the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial".
