Wines from eight regions presented at festival in Tbilisi

On May 11, Tbilisi hosted a festival of new wines, at which small wineries presented their products. The festival was attended by wine experts and importers from 13 countries.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports that in the Mtatsminda Park, winemakers exhibited their wines and treats. The interest in the festival was so great that the Tbilisi Mayoralty hired additional buses for bringing people to the park.

The main goal of the festival is to popularize Georgian wines in the world and raise the level of the wine-making knowledge in the country, Levan Mekhuzla, the head of the National Wine Agency, has stated.

According to Irakli Kezhkishvili, a member of a family winery, his facility makes wine according to the traditional Georgian technology of Kvevri.

Since the start of 2019, Georgia has exported 26 million bottles of wine to 38 countries of the world, says the website of the National Wine Agency.
