Siberian activists join solidarity actions with Ingushes

Residents of the Irkutsk Region have supported the action of solidarity with Ingush oppositionists, initiated by Saint Petersburg and Moscow activists. Picketers in the above three Russian cities demanded to stop persecuting activists in Ingushetia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 23, in the city of Mineralnye Vody, law enforcers detained the Ingush activist Khasan Katsiev, and another one, Akhmed Nalgiev, in the city of Magas. On the same day, activist Ruslan Aushev was detained. All the three are suspects in the case of clashes with law enforcers at a rally in Magas.

On March 26, in Magas, a rally was held with the demand of the resignation of the Ingush leader. On March 27, an attempt to disperse the protesters resulted in clashes. According to investigators, 10 law enforcers were injured. On April 2, the police started mass detentions of activists.

On April 25, a group of activists in the city of Ust-Kut, Irkutsk Region, held solo pickets under the slogan "Stop repressions in Ingushetia!"

"A flash mob in support of the people of Ingushetia was held in Ust-Kut," Alexei Tupitsyn, Director of the local NGO "Centre for Civil Assistance", wrote on the Facebook, posting photos of eight people with posters in support of Ingushes.

In Saint Petersburg, pickets in support of Ingush activists were held on April 23 and 24.

"Civil activists held pickets in Neva Avenue. The aim of the action is to support people of Ingushetia in their fight against thefts of their lands," the user Mussin Eugen wrote in his Facebook page on April 24.

In Moscow, pickets in support of Ingush activists were held on April 23 at the building of the Presidential Administration. The photos posted on the Facebook show picketers who are holding posters in the colours of the flag of Ingushetia with the words "Stop repressions in Ingushetia!"
