CPRF achieves verification of legality of Rauf Arashukov's senator post

The Federation Council is engaged in a check initiated by Valery Rashkin, a State Duma member from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF), concerning verification of the information stating that when Rauf Arashukov got his senator's mandate in 2016, he had a residence permit in the UAE, the "Kommersant" reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 12, the court dismissed Rauf Arashukov from the position of senator from Karachay-Cherkessia until the pronouncement of the court's verdict or the termination of the criminal proceedings. Rauf Arashukov is under arrest since January 30. According to the investigators, he was involved in resonant murders in Karachay-Cherkessia.

Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko "instructed officials to verify the violation of legislation by Senator Rauf Arashukov." The verification was launched after the request filed by Valery Rashkin, a State Duma member from the CPRF, the "Kommersant" reported on March 13.

According to the documents posted on the CPRF's website on March 13, on February 14, Valery Rashkin, a State Duma member from the CPRF, sent a request to the Chairman of the Federation Council with a request to consider the issue of depriving Senator Rauf Arashukov of his power. According to the request, it is caused by publications in the media, in particular, in the RBC, with the information stating that when Rauf Arashukov got his senator's mandate, he allegedly had a residence permit in the UAE.
