Germany to allocate 10 million euros to Georgia for forced migrants

Germany will finance the construction of kindergartens and 236 houses for families of forced migrants from Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in June 2018, the Minister for Refugees' Matters announced the construction of 2134 apartments for forced migrants.

Georgia has registered over 280,000 forced migrants from Abkhazia and South Ossetia. They left their homes after the 1992-1993 Georgian-Abkhaz war and conflict with South Ossetia.

According to the "News-Georgia", the project is intended for three years. 10 million euros will be spent on improving housing conditions and employment of forced migrants.

Residents of new houses will receive grants to find a permanent source of income; and small and medium-sized entrepreneurs will get 130 grants more to create jobs. About 260 young people will be able to take qualification improvement training.
