Senator Arashukov suspected of attacking a Cherkessk deputy

Rauf Arashukov, a Senator (Member of the Russia's Federation Council) from the Karachay-Cherkessian Republic (KChR), who was detained on suspicion of involvement in resonant murders, is also suspected of attacking Ruslan Kardanov, a deputy of the City Duma of Cherkessk, in October 2018, a source said.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Senator Rauf Arashukov was detained on January 30 at a plenary session of the Federation Council. According to investigators, he was involved in the killings of Aslan Zhukov, a deputy chairman of the "Adyge-Khase" movement of the KChR, and of Fral Shebzukhov, an adviser to the KChR's president. Besides, Rauf Arashukov is suspected of involvement in the theft of gas worth 30 billion roubles; his father, Raul Arashukov, an adviser to the director general of the LLC "Gazprom Mezhregiongaz", was detained in Saint Petersburg within the same case.

Ruslan Kardanov, a Deputy of the City Duma of Cherkessk, was gathering information about the illegal activities of Arashukov Junior and initiated a check of the legality of his appointment to the Federation Council, said the source.

Mr Kardanov was attacked on October 24, 2018, in front of the Interior Department in central Cherkessk and was beaten up. Doctors diagnosed "a closed craniocerebral trauma, brain concussion, bruises of face soft tissues and abrasions," the "Interfax" quotes its informed source.

According to Ruslan Kardanov, he was beaten up personally by Rauf Arashukov and his bodyguards.
