The three-year-old child, who received a gunshot wound on the New Year's Eve, has died today in a Derbent hospital.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the three-year-old boy was taken to the hospital in Derbent with a gunshot wound after the New Year's fireworks on January 1. An unidentified person opened fire from a combat firearm, and a bullet hit the child's head.

The boy died today at about 11 a.m., his family told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. According to their story, he died without regaining consciousness; and the bullet extraction surgery was not made. The boy was hit by a stray bullet, when he was watching the fireworks from the balcony, said his relatives.

The boy's death was confirmed by the Republic's Ministry of Public Health. "Despite all the doctors' efforts, they couldn't save him.
