Two natives of Dagestan sentenced for plotting a terror act in Moscow

On November 23, the Moscow District Military Court found Ibragim and Adam Gakaev guilty of plotting explosions during the FIFA Confederations Cup and sentenced each of them to seven years of imprisonment.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 25, 2017, in Moscow, law enforcers detained four persons suspected of plotting terror acts on the eve of the FIFA Confederations Cup. One of the detainees was Dagestani native Magomed Davudov, while the other three were natives of Central Asia.

Natives of Dagestan Ibragim and Adam Gakaev were detained on June 16, 2017. They were accused of preparing a terror attack, while their accomplice - native of Moldova Golub – was also accused of making firearms, TASS agency reports today.

Golub was sentenced to nine years of imprisonment, and the Gakaev brothers ‑ to seven years of imprisonment in a high-security penal colony. According to Golub's advocate Nutsulai Magomedova, her client was selling military weapons, converted from traumatic guns. The Gakaev brothers contacted him via the Internet and made an appointment, but they were detained upon their arrival in Moscow, the RIA "Novosti" reports with reference to Nutsulai Magomedova.

The Moscow District Military Court sentenced all the defendants to the terms requested by public prosecutor. The Gakaev brothers pleaded not guilty. The advocates announced the intention to challenge the verdict, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
