In Tskaev's case, defence accuses investigators of sabotage

Three policemen accused of the death of Vladimir Tskaev in Vladikavkaz were released from custody under recognizance not to leave. An advocate of the Tskaev's family believes that investigators intentionally secured their release.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night on November 1, 2015, Vladimir Tskaev, a resident of Vladikavkaz, died after being interrogated at a police station. According to his relatives, the man was tortured. In the case on the Vladimir Tskaev's death, 10 policemen were detained, and two of them made a deal with the investigators. In the spring of 2017, the chief of the criminal investigation department and seven of his subordinates were finally charged in the case on the Vladimir Tskaev's death.

Tsomaev, Khokhoev, and Maimuradze, figurants in the case were released yet on January 2, but because of the New Year holidays, that was not reported until January 8.

At a press conference, Anzhelika Sikoeva, an advocate of the Tskaev's family, called the release of the defendants from custody "spitting in the face of the injured party." The advocate noted that among other things, Tsomaev, Khokhoev, and Maimuradze were also charged with a particularly serious crime. According to the advocate, at the court session held on December 31, 2017, the pre-trial restriction measure was changed to the defendants due to the fact that the request for extension of the investigation term had come to the court too late.

"I do not find an excuse for that, and I also do not see any coincidence in the case. I believe that was done intentionally, on request," said advocate Anzhelika Sikoeva.
