Khunagov, Rashid Dumalichevich

Rector of Adygeya State University, Doctor of Sociology (doktor sotsiologicheskikh nauk), professor, academician of Social and Natural Sciences Academy, academician of Adygeya International Cherkessk Academy of Sciences.

Born in 1953. In 1975, graduated from Taganrog Radiotechnical Institute. In 1993, defended a Master thesis (kandidatskaya dissertatsia) on the subject Political Subjectivity: Socio-Philosophical Analysis; in 1996, defended a Doctor thesis on the subject Rationality Issue in Politics and Management. Since 1996, heads Adygeya State University.

Deals with the issues of evolution of sociopolitical systems and theoretic modeling of Caucasian culture in the context of co-evolutional and culture/civilization processes. Authored over 35 scientific publications, monographs, and articles, including Rationality Issue in Politics and Management (Moscow, 1995) and Political and Authoritative Relations in a Society under Reforms and Evolution of a Social System (Maykop, 1997). Is an organizer director of a branch of Mountainous Territories Ecology Institute of Russian Academy of Sciences, a chairman of Thesis Council for Social Sciences, and an editor of Vestnik AGU (Herald of Adygeya State University) magazine.

A deputy of the State Council of Adygeya - Adyge Khase. Conducts vast sociopolitical work on ameliorating the socio-economic and political/legal structuring of the Caucasus community basing on the research of cultural and historical realities of the region. Is also the head of the Republic of Adygeya Regional Branch of the Russia's Nations' Assembly.

  • Analysts dispute on risks of IS'* intensifying in Northern Caucasus

    After the terror act at the Crocus City Hall, in Northern Caucasus, there is a risk of intensification of militants of the IS*, although no terror acts on civilians have not been observed there since 2018.
