Dagestani journalists support inspection of social networks because of conflict in Leninaul

The Dagestani Prosecutor's Office has initiated an inspection of social networks in connection with the conflict in the village of Leninaul. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by an official from the Prosecutor's Office. "At present, there are no materials available, since the inspection began recently," said the official. He has explained that the results of the inspection will be reported after its completion.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 7, law enforcers restricted entry to the village of Leninaul in the Kazbek District in connection with the information about a people's gathering of the Chechen community. A clash between the community members and law enforcers occurred near a police checkpoint.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been told by Magomed Magomedov, the deputy editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Chernovik" (Draft), that the inspection announced by the Prosecutor is a late but necessary measure, since "there were forces that used the situation in Leninaul and tried to bring the situation to an almost interethnic clash."

He has suggested that the media would not be objects of the inspection. "Most likely, the Prosecutor's Office will examine publications in Instagram and various groups [in social networks], which contained not only objective reports about what was happening in the conflict zone, but also posted provocations and various calls," journalist Magomed Magomedov believes.

According to Gadjimurad Saghitov, the editor-in-chief of the "Novoe Delo", in modern realities, there is a need for law enforcers' inspections of publications in social networks.

"After all, many serious conflicts begin to emerge namely there. And I therefore consider that to be an effective and necessary measure," Gadjimurad Saghitov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to Milrad Fatullaev, editor-in-chief of RIA 'Derbent', the Prosecutor's Office is obliged to conduct such an inspection and it's not even necessary to make any announcements about it.
