5000 people take part in mass Iftar in Grozny

The Chechen authorities have organized a mass action for believers in the centre of Grozny. In the evening on June 21, hundreds of tables were set up in the square in front of the mosque "Heart of Chechnya", where everyone could complete the fasting.

The mass Iftar for believers was organized by the regional public foundation named after Akhmat-Khadji Kadyrov. The event was attended by more than 5000 believers, including followers of all virds (trends). Believers performed religious rites of dhikr, after which they completed the fasting, reported the Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM).

"The mass Iftar was held on the eve of the Night of Determination (Laylat al-Qadr), which fell on the last 10 days of the month of Ramadan. It is of special significance for Muslim believers. It was at the Night of Determination, when the Prophet Muhammad was sent the first surahs of the Holy Koran," said an official from the Chechen Muftiate.

He has also noted that with the beginning of the month of Ramadan fasting, the Iftar was organized for believers in the Chechen mosques.

"Those believers who cannot get home by the time of evening prayer to complete the fasting can make that at mosques, where hot food, juices and fruits are prepared for them," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by an official from the Chechen SAM.
