On February 13-19, no victims of armed conflict in Northern Caucasus were recorded

During the week from February 13 to February 19, 2017, no victims were reported of the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

Special and counterterrorist operations

On February 16, the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime was cancelled in the village of Andi, Botlikh District of Dagestan. Power agents discovered a militants’ dugout there, where they found cartridges, a grenade and personal belongings. One of the rooms had an iron door. According to law enforcers, it could be used to hold hostages.

Detentions

On February 12, the house of Said Saipudinov, a resident of the Makhachkala neighbourhood of Shamkhal, was raided by unknown armed men. Faces of some of them were hidden behind masks; others were in police uniform; and three more were in civilian clothes. The refused to show their IDs and the search warrant. During the search, they found nothing illegal, but took Said away with them, saying that he would be delivered to one of police stations. For several years, Said Saipudinov was on the so-called “prophylactic registry” of the police, but, according to his relatives, he had no problems with the law. On February 15, it became known that he was kept in one of police stations of Dagestan; however, it was not possible to find out the reason of his detention.

On February 16, Akhmed Israilov, a resident of the Urus-Martan District of Chechnya, was detained by policemen. He is accused of illegal possession of an explosive device. A criminal case was opened against him.
