Police report Djamaldinov's confession of killing Kokurkhoev

In the course of interrogation, Ruslan Djamaldinov confessed of killing the journalist Amerkhan (Amir) Kokurkhoev, said the spokesman for the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Ingushetia.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Amir Kokurkhoev, the press secretary of the administration of the Sunzha District in Ingushetia and the programme presenter at the Ingush television, was stabbed on January 1 and died in hospital. According to investigators, the murder was committed as domestic violence; and Kokurkhoev neighbour, Rizvan Kotiev, was the main suspect.

Kotiev fled the scene together with his father, Ruslan Djamaldinov, law enforcement sources reported on January 2. Today, policemen have detained the 60-year-old Ruslan Djamaldinov and took him to a police station, said an Ingush law enforcement source.

According to the press service of the Ingush MIA, during the interrogation, Ruslan Djamaldinov, earlier suspected "of aiding in committing a murder," confessed that he had fatally stabbed the journalist Amerkhan Kokurkhoev.

Now, investigators "are checking his testimony and establish the real motives of the crime," the "Interfax" reports.
