Student suspected of involvement in terror attack

The 16-year-old resident of Ingushetia detained on suspicion of pandering terrorists who captured a school in the town of Beslan is being held in a temporary detention isolator in Vladikavkaz. However no official charge has been brought against Marina Kogirova so far, the girl's lawyer Sharip Tepsayev told the Caucasian Correspondent.

"The preventive punishment imposed on my client allows holding her in custody for 30 days since the moment of detention. Under the law, the girl must be released if investigators don't present well-grounded information proving her involvement in the stated crime," Mr Tepsayev said. "I think this is how it'll happen as I'm convinced she has nothing to do with the terrorists not to mention the developments in Beslan."

Officers of federal security agencies detained the Kabardino-Balkarian college student, Marina Kagirova, right in a hospice on November 4.
