Investigating Committee of Armenia reports signs of mockery on bodies of dead soldiers

The Investigating Committee of Armenia has instituted a case of violation of international humanitarian law during the hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 13, Armenia reported on 88 people killed in the escalation of the Karabakh conflict. Azerbaijan has confirmed the deaths of 31 of its soldiers and officers.

Under the mediation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Azerbaijan gave out to the Armenian side the bodies of 18 Armenian soldiers and officers killed in the period from April 2 to April 5, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told in the Investigating Committee of Armenia.

According to an official from the Investigating Committee of Armenia, the forensic medical examination was carried out, and its results revealed a lot of signs of torture and mockery on the bodies of the victims.

The criminal case was instituted under Part 6 of Article 390 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (Violations of international humanitarian law during armed conflicts, provided by international treaties).

Till present, no comments from the Azerbaijani side on the issue have been reported yet. Earlier, an official from the Ministry of Defence of Azerbaijan claimed a provocative campaign launched by Armenia.
