Political analysts: military blocs do not want to intervene in Karabakh conflict

The international community is interested in preventing the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh from the intervention of the military-political blocs, since it will mark the beginning of a full-scale war between Armenia and Azerbaijan. This opinion was expressed by experts interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot". According to them, the Collective Security Treaty Organization will intervene only in case of a direct threat to Armenia.

At night of April 2, the situation around the Karabakh conflict has sharply escalated. Tonight, Azerbaijan has declared its readiness to shell Stepanakert.

The UN Security Council and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) will not be able to intervene in the conflict without an "appeal of the injured party", notes Konstantin Zatulin, the director of the Institute for CIS Countries.

According to Konstantin Zatulin, the delicacy of the situation "is in the fact that each country has its own position, which does not coincide with the position of the international community."

"Nagorno-Karabakh is an unrecognized state. The appeal of Armenia to the UN Security Council about the attack on Nagorno-Karabakh will be disavowed," Konstantin Zatulin believes.

According to Sergey Melkov, co-Chairman of the Association of Military Political Analysts, Chair of the Department of State and Municipal Management of the Academy of Civil Defence of the Russian Ministry for Emergencies (MfE), in case of the war between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the winner will be the country which possesses "stronger military forces."

According to Andrei Zubov, Doctor of Historical Sciences, the international community, including Russia, will try to "pacify" the conflict.
