Court takes into account commission's request on Blenaova's conditional punishment

On February 19, the Nalchik City Court sentenced Inna Blenaova, accused of helping militants, to five years of conditional imprisonment, thus taking into account the respective request of the commission for adaptation of former militants to punish Blenaova without deprivation of liberty.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 4 the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) reported on the transfer to the court of the case of Inna Blenaova, who, according to investigators, had provided help to Robert Zankishiev, the leader of the local branch of the "Islamic State" (IS), banned in Russia, who was killed during a special operation.

On November 10, 2015, in Nalchik, power agents blocked a multi-storey apartment building No. 59 in Second Taman Division Street, where, according to their data, the above Robert Zankishiev, the leader of the local branch of the "Islamic State" (IS, earlier – the ISIL (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant), a terrorist organization, banned in Russia), and his Muslim wife were hiding. Zankishiev was shot dead during the storm, and Blenaova was wounded and hospitalized.

On February 19, Blenaova's case was considered in a special order. In passing the sentence, the court took into account the petition of the commission for adaptation of former militants to peaceful life, as well as the fact that Blenaova has two young children and earlier had no criminal record. According to the verdict, Inna Blenaova will live at home and appear, on the monthly basis, at the inspection of the Department of the Federal Penitentiary Service (known as FSIN). Besides, she is not allowed to travel outside the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) without a special permit, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
