In Nalchik, Turkish writer Yalcin Kaya presents his three-volume book "Circassians"

In Nalchik, the office of the NGO "Adyge Khase" hosted the presentation of the three-volume book "Circassians" written by Turkish writer Yalcin Kaya. The presentation was attended by the author, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

When asked about how he has come to the idea of writing the book, Yalcin Kaya has noted that at some time, he found himself interested in the history of the peoples of Turkey.

"My Circassian friends have advised me to write about the history of the Turkish Circassians. I spent four years collecting the material and completely indulged into the subject. And it took 10 years to write the three-volume book," the author has said.

Yalcin Kaya has noted that his great-grandmother was a Circassian and that he feels a genetic relationship with the Circassian people. He wrote the three-volume book with pleasure, as if the story of the Circassian people touched him personally. The author received no remuneration for his work and worked purely for enthusiasm.

The writer has explained that the first part of his three-volume book describes the culture, customs and social life of the Circassian people. In the second part, he collected the materials about the Russian-Caucasian war, and he devoted the third part of his three-volume book to the history of the resettlement of the Circassian people from the Caucasus to Turkey.
